‘Aldrig så jeg så dejligt et bjerg’ er månedens roman i DR Romanklubben i december 2009, men allerede nu kan du tage hul på Romanklub-diskussionerne og diskutere romanen her på siden.

I september 2009 offentliggøres den næste nominerede til DR-Romanprisen 2009/10 og i november offentliggøres de sidste fire.

Vi taler om en massiv kommerciel succes, og der vil komme oversættelser til alverdens sprog. Naturligvis vil jeg invitere damebladene og formiddagsaviserne hjem og lade dem tage billeder af mine børn og mit køleskab. Efter at have læst Ellen Klak Thingstrups indlæg, bliver jeg nødt til
at reagere, for jeg har ikke på noget tidspunkt i nogen sammenhæng
sagt, at jeg ikke anerkender kvindelige præster. Jeg er en mand i Guds
hus, og selv om Ellen Klak skriver, hun har set mig nægte at give en
af hendes kvindelige kolleger hånden, har jeg fået så mange
sympatitilkendegivelser fra gode folk her i vores sogn, at jeg ikke
kan tage hende alvorligt. Man kan ikke spise sig mæt i bibelcitater,
men hvor mange præster i bibelen, egentlig, har en sprække omkranset
af hår? Og sådan én har alle kvinder, præster eller ej, sådan er
kvinderne nu engang indrettet. Selv dronningen har én, under sin
kjole, under sin robe, skulle jeg måske sige, og hun har selv tegnet
den, roben, og en del smukke akvareller er det også blevet til, men
nok om det, hende har jeg, i egenskab af at være sognepræst i Tilst,
taget endda noget så eftertrykkeligt i hånden, og det helt uden at
skelne til, uden så meget som et øjeblik at tænke på, at der under
roben, under denne fine, selvdesignede kjole, gemmer sig en af de
største, for ikke at sige saftigste og sorteste bonderoser i denne
verden.

Der er er bare ingenting, som vil lykkes for mig for tiden, jeg flyder bare omkring, og engang blev vi kaldt ud til en stor havskildpadde ud for West Palm Beach, jeg var praktikant på Lockerhead dyrehospital, og vi kunne straks se, der var noget helt, helt galt med den, for den havde et stort hak i skjoldet, helt ind til kødet, og den lå så mærkeligt i vandoverfladen, og vi tog ham ind på en båre, det så åndssvagt ud, for han lignede et menneske, som han lå dér, bleg og udmattet, og de fandt ud af, at han var blevet ramt af en fiskerbåd, de er nemlig fuldstændig syge med at fiske i Florida, og chokket havde givet ham gasser i maven, og de døbte ham Oscar efter mig, lad være med det, sagde jeg, for det kunne jeg ikke rigtig lide, det gjorde ham alt for menneskelig, og var han ikke blevet fundet, var han død af sult, det sagde de igen og igen, for så ville han have flydt rundt og kigget ned på alt maden på bunden uden at kunne dykke ned til det på grund af alle luftlommerne i kroppen, og det er dér, jeg er nu, for jeg flyder bare omkring, og der er ingenting, der rigtig vil lykkes for mig.

Om mit sommerophold i Paris:

“Aldrig så jeg så dejligt et bjerg” (ny roman der udkommer januar 2009) udspiller sig delvis i Frankrig, og derfor var jeg på et skriveophold i Paris forår og sommer 2007 for at hente inspiration og suge til mig. Jeg fik stillet BG-Banks lejlighed
til rådighed og fik også et legat fra Kunststyrelsen. Det var et fedt
ophold, men da jeg kom hjem, måtte jeg kassere alt, hvad jeg havde
skrevet. Der var ikke en linje, jeg kunne bruge, ud med det, alt
sammen, væk med det og så på den igen

foråret 2006 tog jeg med forfatteren Dorthe Nors til Manhattan for i et fællesprojekt at møde mennesker hvor og når som helst og få en historie eller et udsagn ud af dem, der afspejler deres temperament. Det gjorde vi så, og vi fotograferede dem også sammen med nogle af deres deres effekter. Alle informationer, der kom med, kom ud af disse amerikaneres egen mund. Vi fik fat i folk af alle slags, men bogen blev aldrig rigtig færdig. Den strittede sikkert for meget. I stedet lagde den bund til et nyt romanprojekt; en billedroman kaldet Finn Wiedemanns Forsvinden. Jeg har arbejdet på den lige siden, og nu (januar 2009) ligger den endelig klar. Herunder et af de fotos jeg tog og en af de tekster, vi arbejdede på i løbet af opholdet.

I mange år holdt min gamle Chevette 1977 fast parkeret oppe på Water Street. Der er ikke noget sted i New York, hvor de optager så mange film som her. Hver anden uge kommer de med deres store lastbiler og læsser gear af. Ad den vej har min bil været med i Kojak og en række andre film. Også The Marathon Man, den med Dustin Hoffman, hvor han løber rundt og rundt. Jeg holder altid øje med bilen, når jeg ser film. Også min nye bil. Den har sikkert været med i mange flere film, end jeg ved om, og nu er den så med i jeres bog. Det er den grå, som står ved siden af den store derovre.
